Russia keeps 2019-2020 grain exports forecast at 45 mln tonnes

MOSCOW, Oct 1 (PRIME) -- The Russian Agriculture Ministry has retained the grain exports forecast for the 2019–2020 agricultural year, starting on July 1, 2019 and ending on June 30, 2020, at about 45 million tonnes, but may revise it after the end of harvesting, a ministry spokesperson told PRIME on Tuesday.

“The forecast for the crop harvest remains unchanged -- up to 118 million tonnes, wheat at up to 78 million tonnes,” the spokesperson said.

“In accordance with the forecasts of the Agriculture Ministry, grain exports will amount to about 45 million tonnes, including 36 million tonnes of wheat this season. Revision of these figures will be possible after end of harvesting.”

On Monday, the government sent an economic and social forecast for 2020-2022 to the State Duma, parliament’s lower chamber, with a 2019 harvest estimate of 120 million tonnes.
